Google Mock-Ups; Front Covers

Here is my first Google Mock up of a front cover using existing photo and a vague explanation;

Step By Step evidence of how I created my front Cover;

1. Firstly I saved the image of the official Arctic Monkeys website. I then opened my chosen image on Pic Monkey and chose an auto adjust option to change the look of the image and to brighten up the image and reduce the dark undertones.

2. I then went on the effects option and chose, the focal zoom, I chose this option to allow for the faces of the band members to be central focus. I adjusted the Zoom Blur too 10% to not make the blur overall hard on the eye, I also changed the edge hardness to 19% to make it less obvious of the effect. 

3. I then saved a secondary image which is the Arctic Monkeys 5th album, I chose this image as my main feature story would be around the 5th album. The secondary image is iconic for the Arctic Monkeys and would attract the reader. I opened the image in word and removed the black background to fit across my main image for my front cover. I saved the secondary image to my files to use on my front cover.

4. I applied the secondary image onto the front cover. I positioned the image in an area that wouldn't take up to much space for adding my other magazine conventions. I fitted the image to fit across the width of the magazine front cover to look professional. 

5. I chose the font type Chunk Five to add the mast head and the main feature story. I chose this font as it's bold and eye catching to the reader, I put the mast head in the colour red as it contrasts well with the background and is also a convention of indie rock magazine types. My feature story title 'Arctic Monkeys' is in white to merge with the secondary image which is also in white. The feature story is bold and is in a big text 79 font to overpower over feature stories.

6. I followed on by adding the pull quote/ story title under the secondary image in the font Special Elite, I chose another font to fit with magazine conventions and  too make my magazine not look boring. I chose the colour yellow as it contrast well with red and white and also to match with the front man Alex Turners jacket. I added the story title as 'The Fifth Album "Do I Wanna Know?" I chose this title as it's questioning the reader do you wanna know about the fifth album? Consequently Do I Wanna Know? is one of the tracks on the fifth album from Arctic Monkeys.

7. I proceeded into adding the feature story of Noel Gallagher, chose this specific artist as he is a well known indie rock artist. I chose the title of the feature story to be 'his greatest interview yet' I chose this as it would attract Noel Gallagher fans to my magazine. I used the font Poetsen One and Special Elite to break down the text and used yellow for the title and the pull quote in white to break it up.

8. I added the image of Noel Gallagher onto the front cover to make the front cover look ascetically pleasing to the reader. I added the boarder to allow the image to fit in with the colour scheme of the magazine and not just look placed and irrelevant.

9. I then added the plug which fits with my main story of Arctic Monkeys, I chose the plug to be 'Win Arctic Monkeys Tickets' as this is what would best fit my reader. I also added an image of AM to make my plug look ascetically pleasing, I made the image rounded to fit inside he plug. I added the circle for my plug by using the shape tool and used the text form Special Elite to fit with my colour scheme and font choice.

Here I am removing the background of the image to fit into the plug by using the remove background tool on word. I also used the tool to fit the image in a circular shape.

10. After adding the AM photo onto my plug I proceeded into adding my feature stories. I used Special Elite for my feature stories to fit with the conventions of my magazine. I then used the colours yellow and white to break up the bands and to fit with the colour scheme of my magazine. I added the '+' using Chunk Five font type to make it bold and eye catching, I put it in the colour red to match with my mast head and plug. 

11. Lastly, I added a bar code to make my magazine complete and fit with all the magazine conventions. I used a NME bar code which I found on the internet. Here is my final front cover;
