Here is the image I have chosen for my first front cover of my magazine, I feel this fits my cover best as I can edit it to my fit my cover.
1. Firstly I opened the image on Photoshop so I can edit the image and ensure it is good quality, I wanted to edit out the background as it's not an even colour. I used the Polygonal Lasso Tool to cut round the model and delete the background I used this tool as the coat blended into the background it was hard to use the Magic Wound tool to delete the background. I ensured I had another layer on top before editing to ensure I didn't lose my work if I went wrong.
2. I then opened a normal file document and transferred the image across so it had a blank background to make my artist stand out and ensure I have room to add my mast head and other features. I used the transform tool > scale to decrease my photo.
3. I positioned the image in the centre and used the 'transform' tool to help scale my image to the correct size. I then transferred my mast head from PicMonkey.com from another file and added it on to my main magazine cover. After adding my mast head I then added the header 'the latest indie rock news' using the text tool on Photoshop and its in the font Algerian. (I keep changing the size of the font when I kept adding extra features)
4. I didn't like the way the shape tool on Photoshop produced a circle for my Plug so I used PicMonkey.com to create a circle and matched the colour to the coat of my artist I then added text onto the circle by using the 'Sue Ellen' text type.
5. I then opened the image of the circle on Photoshop and added a new layer to allow for the background to be deleted, I then used the Magic Wound tool to delete the background by highlighting round the circle and pressing delete. I then transferred the circle onto my main work by dragging it across.
7. I then opened the main feature story title and used the magic wound tool to deleted the white background from the image and transferred it across to my main front cover. I added a brightness and contrast editing style to make the colours match as the red for my title is dark than my feature story.
8. I chose a bar code off Google and transferred it onto Photoshop and then used the magic wound tool again to delete the background off the image and opened it onto my main cover. I positioned it in the right hand corner as that is conventional for a magazine
9. I then added the main feature story pull quote underneath my artists name I used the font Script MT Bold and centred it and put it on the font size 98 so It didn't overpower the title or look non-existent. I put it in black to match the colour scheme.
10. I then wanted to add my feature stories, i wanted to use the Arctic Monkeys logo so my target audience can identify the feature story is about AM. I used an image of Goggle (which you can see on the aim document) I wanted to use one with a union jack as that is iconic to Indie Rock/Mod scene, once I deleted the background I found that it didn't look right on my main cover. I then proceeded in finding a new logo which I saved as a JPEG and open into Photoshop. I added a new layer and used the Magic Wound tool to delete the background. I then minimized the image and transferred it to my main document by dragging it across.
11. While looking for a Arctic Monkeys logo I came across their album cover which had these cartoon version of the band I wanted to use them on my magazine. I opened the image on Photoshop and added a new layer, I then used the Quick Selection Tool to highlight round the areas I wanted to delete. I deleted the background and then downsized the document so I can drag the image onto my main cover.
12. After adding them images I then added a '+' sign which can be seen in NME and Q magazine I then added bands which fit my genre as smaller feature stories, it's in the font Tahoma size 24 and bold. Instead of having them all black I did some red to look eye catching.
13. I then added the pull quote to go with my Arctic Monkeys feature story which is in the font Bernard MT Condensed and in the size 30 the font is different from the rest which is what I want and I kept it black to fit with the AM theme. I also added the date and price onto the magazine.
14. I then added another '+' feature stories as I couldn't fit any other stories on without it looking too much on the cover I ensured it looked the same as the other one and didn't look misplaced. I have now added all the magazine conventions which are needed to be on my magazine.

6. I decided to create my main feature story title using PicMonkey.com because I think the font choice is better than Photoshop and looks unique. I put it in the colour red to match the mast head and to match my colour scheme.
7. I then opened the main feature story title and used the magic wound tool to deleted the white background from the image and transferred it across to my main front cover. I added a brightness and contrast editing style to make the colours match as the red for my title is dark than my feature story.
